If I had only gotten the head start I promised myself, these predictions would have come before the beginning of the season so that you could revel in my knowledge! But, because I was a procrastinator, I am now left to surmise about the remaining 16 weeks of the season & I'll use some of what I learned yesterday to help organize my pronouncements!
1) Wow!!! Did the Bengals stink or what yesterday? My first question for the season: Are the Bengals really THAT bad or are the Patriots really totally awesome? While a true fan may hope for the latter, I have some mixed emotions w/ that vote. Ugh... just picturing another year of Tom Brady & his team dominating the NFL conversation. Pass, unless Randy Moss has something more to say!
2) Wow, Part Deux!! Are the Titans THAT great or are the Raiders just that awful? Based upon what I saw yesterday, I think both are true. I really feel for Jason Campbell. If the O-line doesn't shore up its numerous issues, that man will be in a body brace by the 3rd week of the season.
3) I've gone from being totally amused to being totally annoyed by Rex Ryan's J.E.T.S JETS JETS JETS JETS. Not helping my change in position is the harassment underwent by the report from TV Azteca recently. While the behavior was pretty mild, it just makes me feel icky even saying anything nice about the Jets. And yes, I'm still a little bitter about them walking over the Bengals in Week 17 & the Wild Card game last year. PS - Mark Sanchez is not that attractive. Please, everyone, stop saying this.
4) Brett Favre is going to have a long, LONG year. It's going to be terrible, horrible, no good, very bad in probably most ways. I hate that he's back (no real surprise) but I especially hate his arrival. He comes back, passive-aggressively (is that a word?) announcing that he's not sure he should be there & that his ankle may not be 100%. Two built-in excuses for the ready when he starts to stink up the joint. Or should I say continues to stink up the joint? Thursday's game showed that he's not quite ready for Prime Time & I doubt that he'll improve my opinion much.
I think I'm going to start picking games each week with the over/under line. Now, I need to learn how to read such a line!!
